Mike came to Pullman in 1979 attending Washington State University. After a short break, he started his fire service career in Moses Lake at Grant County Fire District #5 in 1981. He returned to WSU in 1983 joining the WSU Fire Department as a student resident and later hired fulltime by the department in 1985 where he received a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Political Science. Mike joined the Pullman Fire Department in 1996 as the Assistant Fire Chief of Operations until his recent appointment as Fire Chief on February 1, 2013.

Position: Assistant Fire Chief
Ryan joined the department in late 2009 after working in Wisconsin. He currently is in charge of the fire department operations. Prior to his current position of Assistant Fire Chief he was the Chief Officer in charge of training where he oversaw all aspects of training. He has a bachelor's degree in Business Management and is also a Paramedic. Ryan is a Safety Officer for a Type III Incident Management Team in Washington State. He also is the Vice Chair for the Washington Fire Chief's Training, Safety and Officers board. He also is the Assistant Conference Director for the Wisconsin EMS Association. Chris Wehrung was raised in Arizona and came to Pullman in 1982 to attend WSU. There he met his wife Nancy. They have been married for over 30 years and have one son Ben, who resides in Phoenix Arizona with his family. Chris has a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management. Chris Joined the Pullman Fire department in 1997 as a reserve fire fighter. He was hired as a career fire fighter in March of 2000. Chris proudly rose to the rank of shift Lieutenant when word of Rich Dragoos pending retirement forced him to focus on prevention training with the hopes of transitioning to the prevention office. Chris became the Pullman Prevention Fire Marshal in August 2015. There he worked with Rich to learn how the office runs. Rich Dragoo retired in January 2016 and Chris is now in charge of the office. He now has a competent deputy Tony Nuttman who joined the prevention office in February 2016.

Position: Deputy Fire Marshal
Tony came to Pullman in 2001 after working in Oregon for 14 years as a Firefighter/ EMT-Paramedic with Silverton Fire district and Woodburn Ambulance. He Graduated from Silverton Union High school and attended Chemeketa Community College for his EMT and Northwest Medical training for his Paramedic. He has been a Fire Investigator since 1996. He has attended the National fire academy in 2012 for Fire/Arson origin and cause investigation. He currently is a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators and the National Association of Fire Investigators. He is currently assign to fire investigation and public education. Tony married his wife, Jodi, in 2004. They have one daughter Kamryn, she is attending college at Eastern Washington University in Cheney.
