Campus Safety
Cougar Safe Rides provides free transportation to women who would otherwise walk alone after dark. For more information, please call 509-335-6830.

WSU offers online access to the Pullman Campus Safety Plan, including links to student conduct and policies information, emergency communication procedures, sexual assault, domestic violence and stalking information, and much more.

The WSU Police Department patrols campus around the clock. Learn more about their services, or contact them to report suspicious activity or crime on campus.
Child Safety
Childhelp is a leading national non-profit organization dedicated to helping victims of child abuse and neglect. The Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline is available 24 hours a day. Children's advocacy, therapeutic foster care and residential treatment villages, education, advocacy, and training are only a few of the services offered.

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children is the nation's clearinghouse on issues related to missing and sexually exploited children. Child safety and prevention resources are available, as well as assistance related to family abduction, runaways, sex offender tracking, and more.

Safe Kids Worldwide is a global organization, dedicated to preventing injuries in children. The Pullman Police Department and Whitman County Public Health are proud partners of the Safe Kids Program, which works with more than 500 U.S. coalitions, and countless organizations within 25 countries around the world, to reduce injuries from falls, drownings, motor vehicle accidents, sports, burns, poisoning, and more.  To  participate in your local Safe Kids program and receive free bicycle helmets, car seats, and/or cribs, click here for program qualifications and application.

Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault & Stalking
Alternatives to Violence of the Palouse provides 24-hour emergency and supportive services to family and sexual violence victims and survivors and their children. Services are provided free of charge and include: 24-hour crisis line, in-person crisis intervention, confidential emergency shelter, legal and medical advocacy services, individual and group support, information and referral, and community education. 

DomesticShelters.org provides abuse victims with the most comprehensive, searchable database housing data information on more than 3,000 domestic violence shelters, agencies, and programs in the U.S.. 

The National Domestic Violence Hotline provides lifesaving tools and immediate support to enable victims to find safety and live lives free of abuse. 

National Stalking Resource Center is a service of the National Center for Victims of Crime, offering information about stalking and what victims should do to keep themselves safe. Links to additional resources are also offered.

VINELink service allows crime victims access to quick and reliable information regarding criminal cases and the custody status of offenders, 24 hours a day. VINELink is the online version of VINE (Victim Identification and Notification System), the National Victim Notification Network.
Emergency Preparedness
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention offers resources for emergency preparedness and response.

FEMA's Ready Kids offers games and activities intended to teach children about emergency preparedness.

Ready.gov offers all kinds of useful information to help you and your family plan ahead for an emergency or disaster.

The City of Pullman, Washington State University, and Whitman County have a Coordinated Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan.
Mental Health & Suicide Prevention
Cougar Health Services provides the WSU campus community with individual, couples, and group counseling, psychological testing, drug and alcohol services, self-help, and 24-hour crisis counseling.

Palouse River Counseling provides behavioral health services to the Palouse. Staff psychologists, counselors, social workers, and psychiatrists treat patients with depression, anxiety, alcoholism, and drug dependence. Call 509-334-1133 to request services or learn more.

Palouse Recovery Center offers outpatient drug and alcohol treatment, counseling, education, and rehabilitation.  

The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline provides free, confidential support for those experiencing a suicidal crisis or emotional distress. Call 988 for immediate help 24/7.
Other Resources
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people who come together to solve their drinking problem. 

The National Crime Victim Bar Association is a network of attorneys and allied professionals dedicated to assisting crime victims in bringing civil action against criminal offenders for the damages suffered as a result of the crime.

The Northwest Network works to end violence and abuse in the LGBTQ community. They offer printable materials, educational resources, online trainings, events, free and confidential support for LGBT survivors and their families, and more.

Victim Support Services is a non-profit organization based in Washington State. Services include a 24-hour crisis line, crisis intervention services, information and referral, and advocacy.

Washington State Department of Corrections Victim Services Program offers notification services which allow victims to receive notification when offenders move through the prison system, and when they are released into the community. 

The Washington State L&I Crime Victims Compensation Program was created to assist victims with the costs associated with violent crime. The program provides financial compensation to victims to assist with medical bills, funeral expenses, loss of financial support, etc.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation  offers valuable information related to firearm safety. The Pullman Police Department also offers free gun locks, available 24/7 in our lobby.
