Pullman Named 15th Safest College Town in America

PULLMANSafeWise released the 4th annual “Safest College Towns in America” on August 5th, in anticipation of the new semester starting for college students. To compile this report, SafeWise safety experts analyzed the FBI's most recent crime statistics from 2017 to calculate the total number of violent crimes committed in American college towns. The City of Pullman earned a ranking of 15th Safest in the U.S.

To be in the running, cities needed to exceed 15,000 residents and be home to an accredited college that offered four-year degrees. Cities with for-profit institutions, technical and vocational schools, community colleges, seminaries, field-specific institutions, and schools that only offer two-year degrees were excluded.

SafeWise security analyst Rebecca Edwards says: "So many things are out of your control when you send your kid off to college, but one thing you can do is make sure they’re heading to a college town with a good safety record."
