Pipe Bomb Diffused
PULLMAN – On Sunday, May 5 at 8:03 am, Pullman Police Officers responded to the City Playfields, 830 SE South Street, on a report of a possible bomb seen by a passerby. Officers located what appeared to be a “pipe bomb” like device placed next to electrical panels on the west side of the Playfields adjacent to a walking and bike path. Pullman Officers secured the area and called the Spokane Explosive Disposal Unit to respond. The Explosive Disposal Unit arrived at about 10:10 am and shortly thereafter rendered the device safe. Evidence was found at the scene of attempts to light the fuse. The device will be sent to the crime lab for further examination.
The Spokane Explosive Disposal Unit is comprised of Spokane Police and Spokane County Sheriff personnel. Pullman PD is grateful for the assistance provided by this unit.
