PULLMAN—The Pullman Fire Department will be holding an open house at its newly renovated Station 2, at Terre View and North Grand, Saturday July 8th from 10 am to 2 pm.

Deputy Chief Ray Lamoureux (pronounced lama row) said the event will also involve many of the partners that Pullman Fire works with, in addition to the display of fire equipment.

Visitors will be able to talk to the Whitcom dispatchers who operate the 9-1-1 system for the area and representatives of hospice will be in attendance.   There will be firefighters demonstrating the training they go through and the department will put on fire extinguisher classes at 11 am and 1 pm.

For children there will be photo opportunities with Sparky, a peddle car that looks like a fire truck, lots of things to do including a tunnel, a chance for the kids to put water on a burn house, an obstacle course and balloons.    There will be car seat checks and a fire representative on site to answer questions on ambulance billing.

For those who might have an interest in joining the Pullman Fire Department as a reserve there will be a recruiting table set up and someone present to answer all questions about the process of becoming a reserve firefighter.
